Frequently Asked Questions

What is Space Ears?

Space Ears is a game that blurs the line between music education and a space roguelike. You control the first alien spacecraft recovered in Area 52, travel through wormholes, collect systems and ships, and uncover a larger mystery.

How does the gameplay work?

Each ship’s guidance system intercepts alien frequencies in the form of melodic or harmonic intervals. Recognizing the interval correctly activates navigation, weapons, defenses, or another system collected during the run.

What kind of game is it?

On one side, Space Ears is a replayable space roguelike with procedural elements, resource gathering, and different approaches to each run.

On the other, it is ear-training software. The repetition involved in learning and retaining interval recognition becomes part of the game’s challenge instead of a separate exercise.

Who made it?

Space Ears is an independent project created by musician and developer Aleks Fadini. It grew from a background in jazz, mathematics, music education, and a fascination with games that make learning feel natural.

Should I try it?

Yes, if you want to improve or refresh your musical ear, or if you enjoy 2D space games and replayable systems. No previous roguelike experience is required, but some familiarity with ear training will help you recognize what the game is asking you to hear.

Where can I get it?

Space Ears is available on Google Play and the App Store.
